The EU budget post 2020 (Multiannual Financial Framework 2021-2027) proposal has been adopted by the European Commission.
For the European Reference Networks, there will be funding available from the ESF+, Horizon Europe (post Horizon 2020 Programme for Research and Development) and Digital Europe.

Overall
- € 413 million allocated for Health under the new European Social Fund+ (ESF+). This will replace the current EU Health Programme
- Funding for Health will be allocated throught other financial instruments to boost the EU budget in health policies: European Regional Development Fund, Horizon Europe (EU research Programme), Digital Europe, InvestEU Fund, Connecting Europe Facility
Next steps
- The Council must unanimously agree on the future long-term EU budget and legislative proposal, with the consent of the European Parliament
- Agreement should be reached before the European Parliament elections and Sibiu summit, May 2019
