Three new patient pathways have just been released by the Vascular Anomalies Working Group (VASCA-WG) and are now available online!
These pathways (along with the already published pathway on Severe/Rare Infantile Hemangioma) were first presented at the International Society for the Study of Vascular Anomalies (ISSVA) Online Workshop that took place from May 14-15th, 2020 in order to obtain feedback from the international scientific community. They have been very well received so far and will be updated as new scientific discoveries are made.
Patient Pathways aim to improve the care and management of patients with a rare disease. They are a very important tool used in defining the best patient care. Disease (or group of disease)-specific Patient Pathways are being developped by each of VASCERN’s Rare Disease Working Groups (RDWGs) in order to indicate the optimal mode of evaluation for patient diagnosis, the optimal evaluation of the patient once the diagnosis is made, and the optimal follow-up and therapy for the patient.
The VASCA WG equally plan to produce pathways for arteriovenous malformations, complex vascular anomaly syndromes and a generalized vascular anomaly pathway that will link all of the pathways together.
Congratulations to the group for all of their hard work on these invaluable patient pathways!
You can equally find the patient pathway on the Patient Pathway page of the VASCERN website here, or on the VASCA-WG page of the website, under the heading “patient pathways”, here.
